This week the contractor continued with retaining wall installation and backfilling, poured concrete curb and gutter, and paved asphalt along IL 126 and the east leg of 143rd St. They also installed conduit, poured lighting and traffic signal foundations, placed asphalt for driveways, and installed steel plate beam guardrail and bicycle railing along IL 126. Additionally, they are working on pavement removal on IL 126 and continuing storm sewer and water main installation along Naperville Rd.
The Stage 2 traffic switch on IL 126 is now in place, which included the closure of Copper Drive. This work involved relocating the temporary concrete barrier wall and applying temporary pavement striping.
Next week the Contractor plans to continue storm sewer and water main work along Naperville Rd., resume delivery and installation of structural steel beams for the bridge, and begin Stage 2 work on IL 126 including pavement removal and excavation, conduit installation, and foundation work. Excavation for compensatory storage at the DuPage River and retaining wall construction will also continue.
