The completion of the 143rd Street East Extension project has been delayed due to unresolved utility conflicts at the IL 59 intersection. Utility companies are currently relocating their facilities and are expected to complete this work by late October 2026.
Construction of the roadway is substantially complete from IL 126 to just west of the DuPage River. Work at the IL 59 intersection will resume once the utility relocations have been completed.
The full roadway is anticipated to open to traffic in early to mid-summer 2027.
